Entry Description: “Without memories I am no one.” –Grace Falzone, March 2009.
Grace, 82, is a victim of Alzheimers disease. Her brother, Joe, her only sibling living in the U.S. has been her sole caregiver since her symptoms began several years ago. Grace still lives alone and relies on her brother’s daily visits for food, medicine and most importantly, companionship. After living independently for most of her life, and caring for her parents, she will be moving in with her brother this year. Joe refuses to consider a nursing home for his sister’s care.

Susan Falzone is a freelance documentary photographer based in CT. She recently graduated from the one-year Photojournalism and Documentary Photography program at the International Center of Photography in New York City, where she received a Director's Fellowship.
