|About the Artist:
I was born in Puerto Rico, and came to the states in 1994. I never thought I would be attending college, but now I am getting my masters and certification to teach Art in public schools. I dabbled in all mediums, but photography maintained my interest for the attention, patience, thought, and work it requires.
I attended Ulster County Community College, Alfred University College of Art and Design and received my BFA, and now I am in College of Saint Rose.
I take photographs because of their literary power. The visual information in one shot can mean so much. A photographer has to fail many times to be able to get that one shot. I strive on not giving up, because I know that if I keep going that shot will appear for me.
Currently I work in the studio on a project inspired by movement, drawing, and light. I have a background in dance. Dance taught me about attention, awareness, and expression. When someone has the skill to draw realistic images it fascinates me. Marks on a page is all drawing is. I have decided to combine drawing, movement, and photography all into one. Light is the basic entity one needs in photography to create an image. I use the light to make marks in space with long exposures, and then leave my images in the negative stage to emulate marks like the drawings we are accustom to seeing.
