Name:
massimo barberio

Category: Non-Professional, Political

Entry Description: Immigration policies and reception procedures really aren't the best
of Italy.
In the pictures in attachment, you can find a great example of how
Italians are not what the world usually thinks about Italy: the
Eritrean refugees that was in Bari find a place where start again
their life with the support of a group of young italians: they
squatted an old school, the Socrate, giving new life to the place and themselves.
Now everyone calls this place home.

About the Artist:

Born in Bari in 1983, Massimo left his family in 1997. Finding himself again in his hometown in 2006, after his unsatisfactory studies in philosophy, found an old camera and his interest in photography. This led him to take courses in many workshops with photographers such as Frank Dituri and Francesco Zizola, who appoint him as the Italian photographer Giacomelli’s heir. He exhibited all around Italy, and Novosibirsk, Ekaterinburg and St. Petersburg. Since 2007 Massimo has had no settled place of residence but has worked around Italy and Ireland covering many personal projects and the most important music festivals and concerts. At the moment he’s working at his first photographic book, living in Socrate.
