| About the Artist: Photographer Tom Chambers was raised on a farm in the Amish country of
Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Tom completed a B.F.A. in 1985 from Ringling
School of Art, Sarasota, Florida with an emphasis in graphic design and
strong interest in photography. For many years Tom has excelled as a
graphic designer, including the design of flat printed material, packaging, and
magazines. Since 1998 Tom has devoted himself to photomontage for sharing
the intriguing unspoken stories, all of which reflect his worldview and
elicit a range of feelings in the viewer.
Currently, Tom is represented by six galleries in the United States and
Spain, including Chase Gallery, Boston; Galería Hartmann, Barcelona; Modernbook
Gallery, San Francisco; Photo-eye Gallery, Santa Fe; Wall Space Gallery, Santa Barbara., and Willem Photographic, Monterey. His work has been shown nationally and internationally through fifteen solo and twenty group exhibitions. Recently, Tom’s work has been featured in print publications, such as Silvershotz, Color, Photo+ and the Huffington Post, as well as online publications, including the VASA Project, Lenscratch, Musetouch, Plates to Pixels, Zone Zero, and others. Over the years Tom has received recognition for his photography through multiple awards. In 2011 Tom was awarded International Photography Awards First Place Digitally Enhanced; PX3 Fine Art Digitally Enhanced, Silver Award; and Jacob Riis Photography Awards, Finalist. Tom has received fellowships from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the Virginia Commission for the Arts. Tom’s photography is held in the collections of the National Museum of Photography, Bogotá; California Sate Polytechnic University “Channing Glissen Collection”; and the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. In early 2012 Modernbook Editions will publish a 112 page book Entropic Kingdom featuring approximately fifty photos.
