| About the Artist: Guyanese born, I grew up on the demerara river. The youngest of 5, I lived in a very small village called timerhi. I did the usual things kids did: i swam with friends, played tennis, soccer and such. Pretty decent upbringing. My family moved to Harlem USA when I was ten. It was a shocking and complete change in culture, attitudes, and dialect. I became very shy and soft spoken. I made friends slowly and then slowly began to find my voice again within what was at the time, "this new strange place". I would fully discover my voice 5 years after living in harlem through photography in 9th grade. Since then i have grown through various artistic phases: from still lives, people, street photo, and now digital minipulation. where will i go next? maybe i'll pick up painting, who knows. |
