Entry Description: “Libert & Company” is a photographic study of an affluent New England family that I know well—it is my own. In the past I found myself hesitant to share photographs that evidence the “privileged” background that I grew up in, especially given the current state of the economy. This body of work addresses my ambivalent attitude toward this aspect of my life, reflecting on people and their possessions that I adore and abhor, admire and scorn. I photograph familial characters of this wealthy circle in a way that captures this certain wavering insecurity – my projected insecurity.

Elizabeth graduated Amherst College in 2005 with honors in her photographic thesis, "In Pursuit of...". She completed the Post-Baccalaureate program at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in 2008, and her Masters of Fine Arts at the School of Visual Arts in 2010. Her thesis project, "Libert & Company", will be presented in two group exhibitions this June. Elizabeth was recently named a Student Winner in the PDN Photo Annual Competition, an Honorable Mention in the NY Photo Festival, and featured on Jen Bekman's "Hey Hot Shot!" blog. She lives and works in New York City.
