Entry Description: I was taking photos of lightning strikes coming out of the cloud cover in the top of the frame and getting just"so- so" images. The wind picked up and blew some more clouds through the middle of the frame and this bolt struck and gave me the shot of a lifetime! I feel like what "made" the shot was the backlighting of the clouds edges!

I am 63 years old and I am a retired Letter Carrier. I have lived in west Texas all my life. I have always loved photography, but didn't get serious about it until I had two near death experiences several years ago! I started to notice little things around me and wanted to document the beauty of life and nature! "Stop and smell the roses" wasn't just a phrase to me! Some people joke that I have a death wish because lightning and snakes are my favorite things to photograph!
