Entry Description: Each ‘tableaux’ from the series Fragmented narrative of a remote island is inspired by true stories from a remote island in Orkney, Scotland. The so-called ‘Chapters’ retrace key episodes from the extraordinary life of its inhabitants. For instance, She was 19 when she first left portrays the idea of a small world in which the character grows within the confined sphere of their territory. By the juxtaposition of layers in the same image, I question the relationship between narrative and photography. How is it possible to tell a story that unfolds in time in a two dimensional image?
