Graduate of the Film Studies at the Jagiellonian University and Academy of Photography in Cracow. She looks at spaces and objects combining personal stories with documentary form. Careful and unhurried observation is important in her work. Photography is not a simple reflection of reality, but rather its transformation and interpretation. It refers more to the imagination than to visual perception. Gabriela Kaszycka has exhibited in Poland and France. She is one of the laureates SFR Jeunes Talents 2013 - Paris Photo.
The starting point for my project comes from my fascination with plants – their forms, structures, unpredictability and diversity. However it is also a reflection on the subject of visual perception and photography itself. I have created some kind of installations, wrapping plants with materials. In the studio, like a researcher, I looked at the curious and unidentified forms.
In this project I consider photography as a medium that captures situations sometimes invisible to the human eye. It refers more to the imagination than to visual perception. It is not a simple reflection of reality, but rather its transformation and interpretation.
