Russian-born Kristina Varaksina has resided in the USA since 2010 and currently lives and works in New York.
Varaksina’s focus is to capture human emotion and the psychological impressions of her subjects’ mind – permitting the characters to project their internal reality. Works undertaken are keen to explore a female and child perspective, evoking their thoughts, dreams and hopes.
Kerry was raised between Los Angeles and Alexandria, VA. She attended Boston University where she studied photojournalism and rowed competitively. The graphic elegance of Kerry’s photography stems from her early days in California, where she was inspired by the unique way sunlight casts an air of mystery over architecture and ordinary objects. From her early mornings on the water in her rowing days, Kerry became fascinated with the way light highlighted an object’s natural beauty. Kerry’s imagery captures the spirit and strength of her subject — her women are confident and empowered.
After assisting, Kerry moved to London to pursue her own vision. Kerry’s photographs have been featured in Vogue Italia, L’Uomo Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle UK, Elle France, Muse, Arena Homme Plus, i-D, Purple, The Face, Details and Interview. Her advertising clients include Nike, Luxottica, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Neiman Marcus.
Born in Kobe, Japan. Based in Tokyo since 2000, and after studio work, she started her career as a photographer. With her primary focus on beauty biz photos, she photographs for various advertisements and magazines. Feminity in simplicity and powerfulness is what she is good at. She is always conscious of expressing the beauty and strength of the subject, and as she regards the light as one of the accents to make the subject look attractive, she prefers a photographic technique of ‘creating light’ by mixing artificial lighting even in natural light photography. She also takes interests in textures of various materials and animals as well, and in animal photography in particular, she concentrates in the expression from perspectives different from nature photography.
