All entries are prescreened by the International Photography Awards. Entries that pass the prescreening process become official selections of the IPA competition. From our judging panel of photography influentials, we choose different judges each year to judge both the physical and online entries.
Every judge rates each entry from one to twelve (one being the lowest, twelve the highest). The scores are tallied and a winner announced in each subcategory. The subcategory entry with the highest score wins the overall category.
All category winners (professional and non-professional) will then compete for the highest award which will be announced at the Lucies as the International Photographer of the Year award, receiving the $10,000 cash prize provided by AtEdge and the coveted Lucie statue. In addition, the seven winners from the non-professional categories will compete for the Discovery of the Year award, which will also be announced at the Lucies, receiving a $5,000 cash prize provided by Pilsner Urquell and the Lucie statue.
