Together with my models we found historical illustrations and photographs which resonated with them personally. The images were in regards to their relationship to their own racial identity and the stereotypes society puts on us. I then photoshop the imagery onto the skin to look like birthmarks or tattoos. The frames are hand carved from woods with cultural significance to each of the backgrounds.
