With ‘Like the Corners of My Mind’, Gijsbertsen reflects on his childhood memories. The series covers themes like passion, love and holiness. His mother’s favourite flower, the freesia, was the starting point of the series. Her early passing created a longing for times past, that would never return. The lighting, based on Dutch’ golden century painters like Vermeer and Rembrandt, emphasise this state of melancholia.
