From an ongoing series depicting real and imagined people and stories from the area of rural Lincolnshire, England where I grew up. My pictures are often based upon folk legends that are either passed down through generations… or perhaps simply the wandering flight of imagination. This particular image 'The Venus of Whissendine' harks back to ancient tales of fertility, but also carries a twist in the tale by suggesting that certain so-called sins are often familiar bedfellows…and that although they may carry a price, that price is for some a price well worth paying…
