“Passing Embrace” is a series of images that emphasizes the moments in our lives that often pass us by. My intention for this imagery is to bring about the beauty of ordinary moments - those that happen quickly or are imperfect in nature - in a minimalistic and understated way through still life and portraiture. I utilize the philosophies and aesthetics of wabi-sabi (侘寂), a, Japanese aesthetic centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. In this philosophy, beauty is imperfect, incomplete, and impermanent. These moments are fleeting, present and then past, leaving their lingering embrace behind.
