The selection I am submitting is part of a long-term project about Immigration Centers in Italy. We are facing an enormous stream of migrations around the mediterranean sea. People coming from many different countries, often escaping from war and poverty, seeking political asylum or searching for a better future. The trip is dangerous and risky. Once arrived, many of them are hold in these facilities for suspects of Visa violation. The human conditions inside are very painful. They are deprived of basics human rights, events of self-mutilation are not unfrequent and the custody can lasts for months. I am trying to show the profound injustice of this system that presents itself as a protection for citizens, but actually conceals a form of unbearable classism and racism.
