Only 27% out of a 55 million population are connected to any power grid in Myanmar. Solar energy is a viable and much-needed solution that has the potential to improve lives immediately. Small, inexpensive photovoltaic power systems allow people to do more with their waking hours at no extra cost. These portraits depict the lives of inhabitants of remote areas who, for the first time have access to electricity through the power of solar energy. Each subject was asked how solar light has affected their life. The portraits were set up according to what they expressed. All scenes have been lit only by solar powered light which are contributing to the improvement in peopleĀ“s standard of living.
