The small village called “Ant Village” in Seoul Korea became populated by the poor after the Korean War. In an area where depressing times have accumulated, the affectionate attention to relieving sorrow through murals has turned into yet another sad time. The photos of “Ant Village Blues,” which recorded the “Ant Village” and its murals, may depict the view of each and every one of us in the midst of our own sad times. “Ant Village Blues” series is composed of photos of the “Ant Village”, printed using the Cyanotype process. Cyanotype, widely known as the “blueprint,” has been mainly used for construction or machine sketches. Thus, these “blueprint” images evoke hopeful plans and designs for the future. The trace of time remains in the “Ant Village,” and the stories piled within its history will be spoken in the language of a “blueprint” for the future.
