The lady, who's hands are depicted her, was 108 years old when I took this photograph. I loved the texture of her hands and the paper quality of her skin against the knitted quilt, it spoke of experience and fragility. There was something textural and organic about it, but also typical of the morbid sterility of a retirement home sue to the tv glare against dim evening light. I ha d no other light to work into the shot but I felt it was fitting.
