Wagon Hill Conservation Area is about 10 miles from my home and is a popular dog walking area. I kept an eye on these maturing Wild Blue Iris (iris spuria) and returned when they were at their peak. On this morning, rain was imminent and the storm clouds were responsible for the dramatic skies near sunrise. Rain had already started to fall, and can be seen on some of the leaves. In order to highlight the vibrant iris, I moved to within an inch of the closest flower to make the flowers dominate the foreground. Several images were taken for the exposure of the flowers at progressively distant focal planes then merged in post processing to create infinite sharpness. A final exposure was taken for the sky\'s exposure.
