With this series I wish to explore the underside of plants. There is so much incredible design, colour and life found under the earth. Here is where life is maintained. It is what holds the plant secure. Without roots, the plant will not survive. One can draw a parallelism with humankind. We use our family roots to help us remain secure, strong and to survive. My photographic process involves first taking the plant apart and then photographing and scanning each piece. Then, I reassemble the many images together to produce a body of work which I feel is strongly intense yet fragile. Each final image consists of anywhere from up to 50 multiple single images and takes over 3 months to complete.
