Some people do not remember how it all started. It began with them having entered the water just to wet their feet, but the impetuous force of the raging river swept them away. It overwhelms with each pounding current that drags the body to the bottom, depriving it of any option to escape. The imagery of the river lends itself as a metaphor in this project’s attempt to narrate and portray personal battles against anorexia and bulimia. Only a few knew of the distinctive moment they have become slaves to food, weight and image. Through compelling stories of those who have lived through this disorder, we come to know of bodies as kingdoms in which victims are Kings and Queens who fight to gain total dominance. This war that rages within is violent, cruel and constant. Like a mosaic, only by standing back and looking at the big picture formed can we fully grasp and comprehend the totality of the issue that is eating disorders.
