Sakiq is an Iñupiat whaling captain and community leader. With subsistence whale hunt, he feeds the people of the northernmost community in continental America, Barrow, Alaska. Iñupiaq hunters have been harvesting bowhead whales since time immemorial. It takes a whole village to handle this subsistence hunt and the whale feeds not only their bodies, but their minds and culture, bringing the Iñupiaq people together.
