Asmita lives in a waste collection site in Kathmandu, Nepal. Her mother and her grandmother sort rubbish every day. Asmita was born into that world and just like any other child, she plays, loves, cries and laughs. However, she has no schooling and is exposed every day to unhealthy conditions, breathing the toxic smoke and fumes emanating from the burning garbage and plastic. Her family suffers from social exclusion and, just like her mother and her grandmother, she will be expected to work in the same place and sort the garbage thrown away by the people of Kathmandu.
