Winter, for the most part, brings about a lull in my photographic activities. But the abstract qualities to be found in various ice formations are like no other offerings from Mother Nature during the other 3 seasons of the year. They represent frozen moments in time much like a photograph itself.....even if of somewhat longer duration than 1/60th of a second. But unlike a photograph, there is precious little 'permanance' to their presence. They are fleeting in nature and viewable for only brief periods of time......much like many art 'installations'. And though the 'installations' occur during the harsher portions of winter, the gentle curving lines that can often be found still offer a hint of the movement inherent to their liquid variation present during the other 3 seasons.
