Norilsk is the northernmost city in the world with a population of 176 thousand people. This industrial and prisoner city was founded in 1935 by the forces of prisoners of Stalin camps in the north of the Krasnoyarsk region territory with abundant mineral resources. Years of industrial prosperity technological discoveries and breakthroughs entwined with the years of repression executions and camps. Norilsk is built with sweat and blood of thousands of people. It is still one of the harshest cities on Earth, summer lasts for two months and as people say if you don't flower in time, you freeze and die. This winter the temperature reached the level of -56 degrees. Color of snow and ore is the color of this city this is why I decided to make these photos in black and white.
