I have spent the past 2 years traveling around the world collecting the traditional recipes and stories of artisan makers and home-cooks. Using food as a medium, I have overcome barriers of religion, race, creed, and ethnicity, to capture a unique perspective of the lifestyles and situations that people live in. This series is a tribute to those who have invited me into their farms, homes, and kitchens sharing their customs and culture with me. Hands tell stories; an old Calabrian man presents his day's harvest of olives (Italy), a Siwan man strips the pollen of a date palm flower (Egypt), a Lebanese grandmother holds up her homemade roses made of marzipan (Lebanon), a Galician women picks peppers on a neighbor's farm (Spain), and a Campanian father kneads cannoli dough (Italy). These hands represent experience, hard work, and love.
