Sheep pastoral economy has changed a lot during the last decades but it has always characterized the economy in Sardinia and been part of its culture and its very identity. Traditions still stay alive, particularly in the inland smaller towns of the Island. The shearing, which marks the end of spring and the beginning of summer, is one of those particular moments where tradition meets the everyday life, where the past meets the present. It is one opportunity where the community gathers, celebrate itself and the changing of the seasons. Boundaries and frienships are proofed and fastened in a collective day of work, celebration and feast. The pictures were taken in Curcuris, a small town counting about 300 inhabitants and laying between the smooth hills of the Marmilla area, in Sardinia, Italy.
