I Believe / Bressoux is a portrait of a multireligious suburb of Liège in Belgium. To me Bressoux is the world in a nutshell. Sunnis ans Shiites muslims live together with Kurds, Jezidi’s, Alevis, African Christians and Syrian Orthodox on less then a square kilometre. It’s a crossroad of European, Arabic and African cultures. I’m interested in everyday life in Bressoux in a time of worldwide religious and international conflicts. I’ve decided to document the everyday life of seven individuals from different communities. I ask each of them to write a short tekst about what they believe (in the broadest sense) and how they experience life in Bressoux. The pictures are mixed with text and sound in – what I call - a short ‘photographic film’. One for each individual. These individual portraits are accompanied by mini-documentaries (video, pictures and text) of well known places in Bressoux.
