PROJECT: Green Mansions> I have deep memories of times, during my early year, spent on the creek and twisted forests beside our farm in Maryland. The magic and mystery of that time remains with me here on the Eastern Shore so many years later. All the creeks I have entered form their own distinctly different realms in which I am only an observer. I have been engaged in a project titled “Green Mansions”. The title is from a book written by William Henry Hudson in 1904. A young man, Abel, is lost in a deep jungle. Strange birdlike singing leads him to find a forest-dweller girl. She seems to have a pact with nature. However, she is not able to survive in civilization. I think It is my own longing to find a bridge between these realms that continually draws me to attempt to become a part of them through photography.
