Photos of real wild mushrooms releasing spores shot in a studio. The slow shutter captured trails of spores in flight at night. Both photos are composites of spore releases photographed over a period of an hour or so. All subjects are real and otherwise unmanipulated.

Story

It is quite rare to find nice looking mushrooms in the wild as they are transient. Even more rarely seen are spores being released by mushrooms. These are extremely difficult to photograph subjects, as highly skilled lighting is needed in order for the spores to be visible. Most mushrooms only release spores for one day and then die off.
