Façades in architecture are often related to as skin, since they convey between the inside and the outside. This skin might appear as a rough wooden surface that by being exposed to the environment changes over time; it might also appear as a pristine, precisely shaped sequence of a computer generated variation of one theme; or it might be defined by rigid building techniques that in a bigger scale add up to a three dimensional pattern.
