The Hilton house is the most recognizable and exclusive private residence on the Emerald Coast of Florida. Construction began in 1999 and continued for over 10 years on this magnificent 9500 ft² (883 m²) estate, which overlooks the Gulf of Mexico. It was designed by renowned Fresno, CA architect Arthur Dyson, AIA. For over 3 years, my wife and business partner, Susan R. Thompson, and I have been crisscrossing the US photographing Dyson projects for an upcoming book on his architecture. Dyson design is much about glass, light and the committed de-emphasis of walls and divisions, obscuring the separation of inside from out. Early in his career, Dyson's vision was influenced by working with three of the most important architects in history: Frank Lloyd Wright, Bruce Goff and William Gray Purcell.
