My daily walks around Echo Park Lake evolved from leisurely exercise to obsessive attempts at capturing the wide variety of dreamy ephemeral tableaux rippling so colorfully on the water’s surface. I've always been attracted to reflections — in water, glass, and all shiny surfaces. I’m fascinated by their layers and depth, their ambiguity and fluidity, and I find there is always something new to see within them — some novel discovery enhancing the experience — some secret waiting to be revealed. Water reflections typically take us even further into an “altered” state of mind with their inherent Rorschach aspects — allowing room for creative thought and individual interpretation to determine what exactly it is that we’re actually looking at and whether or not it’s familiar and known, or perhaps something completely new.
