In my work, I intend to share with the audience my visual inquiry into trauma, personal story telling, and the role of family in forming an artistic vision. These issues have been at the center of my current research and work. In presenting this work, I share my visual inquiry into trauma, personal story telling, and the ways personal and cultural experiences of family feed artistic vision. Traumatic memories, which are unbearable experiences, have inspired this artwork from both a personal and cultural perspective. With this work, I am examining, and displaying for the audience, the effects of abuse and the trauma. Of significance is how trauma is revealed through family relationships, and how it alters an individual and a family’s identity when visualized. Through my work, I transform the unspoken traumatic memories and complicated familial and cultural relationships into an aesthetic experience.
