Our polar regions are rapidly melting. This photo was shot in July in Svalbard, at a time when polar bears should have been able to feed from the ice edge. Instead, most areas were so melted the bears had to resort to swimming long distances or scavenging on the bare soil to find enough to eat. This images tugs at my heart as it seems the bear is so aware of the situation - his/her habitat is disappearing.
