The architecture found within a society represents more than their level of wealth or power. Society projects their culture and history through these monumental structures. I believe it is important to create photographs give a voice to the architects and craftsmen that created these buildings. It is their vision that stands within these cultural landmarks. Many of the greatest structures ever created have been lost to manmade events. Incredible structures such as the Kroll Opera House in Berlin, the Bridges of Florence and the Basilica of Saint Lawrence outside the Walls in Rome were all lost to war. Even in this century the events of September 11th 2001, the Buddhas of Bamiyan, Afghanistan, the Great Mosque of Samarra, Iraq and more recently the destruction of the Aramaic city of Palmyra, Syria all show that these structures must be appreciated before they are lost.
