The Sturgeon’s history can be traced back over 120 million years. They have lived through dinosaurs, ice ages, and worldwide catastrophes. Now, nearly all species of sturgeon are considered endangered. Today, with so much power acting against environmental protection and conservation it is imperative that stories like the sturgeons are told. With thoughtful and informed steps into the future we, as stewards of the land, possess the power to preserve what we still have and even undo some of the environmental damage we have done. Animal conservation is one of the best tools for environmental justice. If we can learn to show empathy towards this living fossil and help it regain its lost habitats we will also create a healthier world for future generations and ourselves.
