Thaipusam Festival is celebrated mainly by Tamil Indians on the God Murugan’s month. It begins at dawn with prayers and rituals in a designated Hindu temple, and ended with two colorfully decorated cows pulling a silver chariot, which bears a statue of Lord Murugan, proceed slowly through the streets to the final Lord Murugan temple. In Hinduism, the cow is seen as the sacred maternal figure due to the Hindus relied heavily on it for dairy products, tilling the fields, and on its dung as a source of fuel and fertilizer. While the cow milk is also considered as the highest forms of food which is believed to have a great calming effect and improves meditation. These photos were taken before the Thaipusam festival at Batu Caves in Malaysia, the devotees have shown a lot of love towards their “mother” by garlanding it with flowers and taking photos with them.
