In this series various layers constitute implied space and resist both full deconstruction and identification of process. The work explores and questions the ontology of images, with particular reference to realism and virtuality. Further, it is concerned with suspending natural looking space and replacing it with a new reality where I blend flat 2-dimensional shapes with the illusion of 3-dimensionality. Thereby rendering a new perception in which light seems to take on actual material form. For example, the flower petals in these photographs are real, but the materiality of the light makes them appear painted and they seem to be floating. Grown in the Andes and commonly called Lily of the Incas these flowers have long symbolized friendship and devotion, and their twists and turns represent the trials and tribulations of strong fellowship. The only computer process applied to the images was the cleaning or cloning over of dust spots.
