From a travel feature on Istanbul in Norwegian Financial Daily. Istanbul was the place I did not know I longed for until I arrived there. Still, it felt like in the midst of the city's immense beauty, deep change was taking place. My best moment though, was in The Blue Mosque, a tired picture-maker, getting 90 minutes of rest in the middle of lovely ladies praying and families talking quietly and children playing. I felt the soft prayer carpet under my bare feet, just watching and breathing, happy to be alive and able to be there.
Kristin Linnea Backe is a photographer living in Oslo, Norway. "Making pictures is a way of life for me. I feel a need to see the images of the day to day life that surrounds me, right down to the smallest detail. I make pictures everywhere I go, holding onto what I see in my mind or with a camera. For me photography is a way to watch the rhythms of my world as it dances through the seasons and as a way of engaging with its secrets"
