My Wavelength Series shares my engagement with the Australian tradition of body surfing and continues my love affair with painterly photography. After every shot I was caught by the wave I was shooting and dumped in the surf. With an underwater housing around a traditional DSLR it would have been too dangerous to attempt but, with the advent of high resolution small cameras, I was able to modify a small underwater housing that allowed me to shoot this series without injuring myself or others. Except for grading and cropping, none of these photos have been substantially altered in photoshop … with the visual effect being achieved in camera.
