Keeping a close dialogue with the Dutch vanitas of the 17th C, this body of work invigorates the genre of still life into a contemporary context. Rather than arranging objects together, the still life if deconstructed and single objects occupy their own space on a dark and fragile surface. Similar to the vanitas, objects sustain a visual pleasure and suggest the brevity of life.
