Backlighting was used to exacerbate this species heavily keeled scales and unique nose shape. Bornean Palm Pit Vipers are considered common but extremely difficult to spot due to its heavy camouflage. Heavy shadows offset by highlights are symbolic of how difficult the Viper can be to find. It is known to be somewhat aggressive, often found purely because a naturalist was struck whilst walking through the forest.
