Chang-Chih Chen creates a photographic language called "Relative Perspective". He transforms the time-space relationship in relativity into images and applies it in socio-humanity areas. In the long-term landscape collection project, the scenes in city and countryside are cut in pieces. This project encourages people to rethink about the environment, time and space they live at the moment. This Formosan sika deer sculpture, with one deer horn written ‘Jing-Jie’ in Chinese, stands on the platform of the train station in Sinying, Tainan and gazes at the ever-changing scene on the opposite platform. More than three hundred years ago, this was the realm of the Formosan sika deers. The international trades rapidly converted the blood and flesh into the form of fur. Now, besides the offspring in few repopulation fields, they exist as literature, sample and statues. Note: “Jing-Jie” could mean boundary, limits, realm or a state of mind.

Mr. Chang-Chih Chen is an artist who creates art works with multiple methods, including visual, (theater) videos, installations and sound arts. He specializes in visual materials and has also been awarded in this field both in Taiwan and overseas. There are three axes in his art works: the "perspective" system extension in visual art, the "Performscape" and the "Off-Score" creation in sound arts. He has been extending the realm of perspective. In "Real Time for Perspective", the real time telex has no time difference; "Package Landscapes in Amber" demonstrates the smallest may hold the largest as indicated in Buddhistic classic; the "Relative Perspective" landscape collection project is based on the theory of relativity. In his "Performscape" context, he has the "Fuxi & Nüwa", pair God and Goddess of double spiral, modeled by husbands and wives (as well as same-sex partners) to discuss the notion of marriage in different cultures. Another project in "Performscape" is the "Overlay, Body-Appearance", which aims at finding out the self-identification. In the axis of "Off-Score" sound creation, the performance "Listen to soundless Bodies" captures the micro-electronic signal in human bodies as basic tones, and it decomposes process of massage hidden in score for the sound performance. The other project "Turn the Radio by Walking" turns audience into radio pointer. When audience moves, the audience also changes the radio channels and makes the movements sounds and even poem. Chang-Chih Chen has been working with theater for almost two decades for visual works and theater works. He aims at writing theater history with photography and archiving the history of performing arts. In 2016, his "Arts Travel Project" was sponsored by National Culture and Arts Foundation. He was able to stay in Germany, France and Great Britain for almost half a year and visit major festival and archives and museums, from his perspective of a mixture of visual, performing and public art. With those international experiences, he was able to better support and contribute to theater cooperation and future archive establishment.
