In small towns in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan in India are numerous old painted fresco grand mansions, with many just abandoned and now decaying. These grand havelis built in the 18th and 19th centuries by wealthy merchant families are ornately decorated both inside and out with painted murals depicting an array of subjects and mythological figures.
