Ethnographers distinguish over 80 kinds of regional folk costumes in Poland. Only in some regions, with a strong local identity (as in Podhale), they have survived to the present day, but the majority of which are historical garments is dating back to the XIX century. Although my great-grandmother was wearing daily and festive costumes under the rigor of the local tradition (she died in 1985 ), today's folk costume is practically absent in everyday life. Apart from the folk groups and groups of people promoting Polish folk culture, the last place where you can see the costumes are the museums. A series of portraits was created in cooperation with the City Museum of Tychy, as a part of the photographic documentation of folk costumes use to be used in Upper Silesia region. Non-professional models, fascinated by the roots of their own culture, took part in the project.
