This project is about the former USSR countries. The longest “border” that existed in Europe was the Iron curtain. The former communistic countries in the east of Europe have faced a lot of changes since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1989. A border can act as an imaginary frame, which defines the identity of a person. It can give people the feeling of belonging somewhere or not. The external border of the EU is becoming increasingly important as the internal borders within the EU are disappearing. But how do the people within these disappearing borders feel? The map of Europe and the idea of what Europe is, are changing rapidly over the last century. Several wars divided the continent. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, a part of Europe is uniting more and more.
