In the festival of Buddha Jayanti, Nepali young monks were marching in the city of Bhaktapur to commemorate the Buddha’s birthday. As a traditional part of Buddhist rituals, the flames of burning candles symbolize the enlightenment of the Buddha. The march with lit candles is also to remind people the teaching of Buddha, while praying peace, health and harmony. Although many of the historic temples were destroyed by the massive earthquake in 2015, the religious faith has been remaining in this heritage city.
