Bottle kicking is thought to be a pagan tradition that exists to this day between the picturesque English villages of Hallaton and Medbourne. There are virtually no rules, except no eye-gouging, use of weapons or strangling. Each village team tries to move the wooden bottles, on a best-of-three basis, across two streams one mile apart, by any means possible. Injuries and broken bones are common.
